Have you ever thought about how much a garden needs to grow? 🌼
Water, sunlight, and care… without those, plants can’t thrive.
The same is true for us.
Big Idea
When we trust God, He takes care of us and helps us grow—just like a well-watered garden.
Bible Verse
“The Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden.” — Isaiah 58:11 (ESV)
Lesson for Kids
A garden grows best when it gets:
Water 💧 Sun ☀️ Care 🌱
God gives us what we need too:
His Word 📖 Prayer 🙏 Love and guidance 💛
Even when life feels dry or hard, God is still taking care of us.
Talk About It
Ask your kids:
What happens to plants when they don’t get water? How does God take care of us? What can we do to stay close to God?
Activity: My Garden With God
Have your child draw a garden 🌸
Then:
Add flowers or plants On each one, write how God helps them (guides me, loves me, forgives me, helps me)
Teach the Verse
“I will be like a watered garden!”
Explain it simply:
God guides us God gives us what we need God helps us grow strong
One of my favorite ways to teach this is through hand motions!
Hand motions for I will be like a watered garden!
Say the phrase together first:
“I will be like a watered garden!”
“I will” Point to yourself “be like” Hold hands out flat (like you’re showing something) “a garden” Wiggle fingers upward like plants growing
God guides us
Motion: Point up, then use your hand like you’re leading someone forward
Simple way to say it:
“God shows us where to go.”
God gives us what we need
Motion: Hold hands out like you’re receiving a gift
Simple way to say it:
“God takes care of us.”
God helps us grow strong
Motion: Start crouched down, then slowly stand tall and flex arms 💪
Simple way to say it:
“God makes us strong inside.”
Boom! Now time to put it all together
Say and act it out:
“God guides us” (point up + lead forward) “God gives us what we need” (receive hands) “God helps us grow strong” (grow + flex)
Final Thought
Just like a garden needs daily care, our hearts grow when we stay close to God.
And the best part?
God never forgets to water what He planted. 💛
